Custom Order
Every Casiani garment is made by hand in Kastoria. A custom order is the same craft, directed entirely by you: your measurements, your fur, your length, your lining. Nothing about it is pulled from stock.
The service exists because the pieces our clients describe most often are ones that do not exist on a rail. A sable coat two inches longer. A mink jacket in a colour we have the skins for but have not cut this season. A cashmere coat with the collar from one style and the sleeve from another. If you can describe it, our workshop can generally build it.
How It Works
1. Tell us what you have in mind
Start with a message on WhatsApp, a note through our contact form, or a visit to any of our boutiques. A sketch, a screenshot, a photograph of a coat you once owned, or simply a description is enough to begin. If you would rather talk it through while looking at real pieces, book a Video Shopping appointment and we will walk the atelier with you on camera.
2. Choose your fur
This is the part that cannot be rushed, and the part clients enjoy most. We work in Russian sable, mink, Blackglama mink, chinchilla, bobcat, Baumarten, Swakara, fox, rex rabbit and Loro Piana cashmere. Within each of those there are grades, colours and working methods, and the difference between them is the difference between two very different coats. We will show you the actual skins under consideration and explain what each one will do once it is cut.
3. Decide the details
Length, silhouette, collar, closure, pockets, lining, and whether the piece is worked skin-to-skin or let out. Fur trim can be added to cashmere, or removed and made detachable so a single coat carries two lives. If you want a detail from one of our existing styles transplanted onto another shape, say so at this stage.
4. Measurements
If you can visit a boutique we will measure you there. If you cannot, we will send you a short measuring guide and take you through it over video so the numbers are right the first time. Custom pieces are cut to your measurements, not graded to a size.
5. We build it
Your piece goes into the workshop in Kastoria, where it is cut, matched, sewn and finished by hand. Skins are matched to each other by tone and hair length before a single cut is made. This is the stage that takes the time, and it is the reason the finished garment looks the way it does.
6. Final check and delivery
Before the piece ships we send you photographs of the finished garment. It then travels to you by UPS or DHL, insured and tracked, free of charge anywhere we ship. Your piece is registered with a serial number, so it can be verified through our authenticity system at any point in its life.
What to Expect
Timing. Most custom orders take four to eight weeks from confirmed measurements, depending on the fur and the complexity of the design. Russian sable and chinchilla commissions usually sit at the longer end, because matching skins at that level takes longer than sewing them.
Price. A custom order is quoted individually, since the cost is driven by the skins themselves. It is not automatically more expensive than a catalogue piece, and in some cases a custom garment in a simpler fur costs less than a comparable finished coat.
Commitment. Nothing is charged until you have seen the fur, agreed the design and approved the quote. There is no fee to start a conversation.
One thing worth saying plainly: because a custom garment is cut to one person's measurements in a fur chosen for them, it falls outside our standard 14-day return window. We would rather tell you that at the start than at the end. It is also why we spend so long on the fur selection and measuring stages.
