Cashmere

Cashmere

Cashmere made with Loro Piana fabric, trimmed and lined with the same furs we build our coats from. Capes, half coats and full-length coats with Russian sable, mink or chinchilla at the collar, cuff or front panel. It is the lighter, more wearable way into fur: cashmere carries the drape and the warmth, the fur carries the character. Every piece is cut and finished by hand in our Greek atelier, and the cashmere weight is matched to the pelt so the garment hangs the way it should.

FAQ

Why Loro Piana fabric specifically?

Loro Piana works with some of the longest and finest cashmere fibres available, and fibre length is what determines whether a knit pills and thins or stays smooth for years. On a garment that also carries fur, the cloth has to hold its shape under the weight of the pelt, which a lesser cashmere will not do.

Is a cashmere coat with fur trim warm enough for winter?

For most winters, yes. Cashmere is an excellent insulator for its weight and the fur adds warmth exactly where you lose it fastest, at the neck and wrists. For sustained deep cold a full fur coat is warmer, but a trimmed cashmere piece covers a far wider range of conditions comfortably.

Can the fur be removed?

On several designs, yes. A detachable collar or panel turns one coat into two garments, extends the season it can be worn in, and simplifies cleaning, since cashmere and fur need different processes. It varies by piece, so check the individual product details.

How should a cashmere and fur piece be cleaned?

By a specialist furrier rather than a general dry cleaner. The two materials need different treatment and fur must never go through a standard cashmere process. Cashmere is also a favourite target for clothes moths in its own right, so moth precautions matter doubly on these pieces.
