Fox

Fox is the longest-haired fur we work with, and the one that moves most. Dense underfur sits beneath long glossy guard hairs, which is what gives fox its volume: it reads as generous and alive rather than flat and sleek. That makes it the natural choice for collars, cuffs, hoods and full statement pieces, and it is why fox takes dye better than almost any other fur. We work it natural in silver, blue, red, arctic and marble, and dyed across a wider range. Every Casiani fox piece is hand-built in our Greek atelier.

FAQ

Is fox fur warm?

Very. The combination of dense underfur and long guard hairs traps a lot of air, which is what insulation actually depends on. Fox is warmer than its light, airy appearance suggests, though it is bulkier than mink for the same warmth.

Why is fox less expensive than mink or sable?

Fox pelts are considerably larger, so a garment needs fewer of them, and there is less matching labour involved than with small skins like sable or chinchilla. It is a genuine luxury fur at a more accessible price, not a lesser material.

What is the difference between silver, blue and arctic fox?

They are different colourings and in some cases different species. Silver fox is black with silver-tipped guard hairs. Blue fox is a soft grey-blue with exceptional density. Arctic fox is pure white with the finest, densest underfur of the three. Marble and shadow fox are paler patterned variants.

How do I care for long-haired fur like fox?

Shake it out rather than brushing it, which separates the guard hairs without breaking them. Store it cool, dark and uncovered with space around it so the hair is not crushed flat. If it gets wet, shake and hang it to dry slowly away from any heat source, never a radiator or hair dryer.
