FAQ
What is Swakara fur?
Swakara is the fur of the Karakul sheep, named for South West Africa where the breed was farmed. It is distinguished by a tight, flat, glossy curl rather than the soft pile of mink or sable, which gives it a completely different visual character.
Is Swakara warm?
Warm, but not in the way a dense fur like mink is. Swakara is notably light and flat rather than thick, so it insulates well for its weight without the bulk. It suits transitional weather and layering better than deep midwinter cold.
How does Swakara compare to mink or sable?
How should Swakara be cared for?
The same fundamentals as any fur: cool, dark, uncovered storage with air circulating, and no heat. The curl should never be brushed or combed, which distorts it. If a piece gets wet, shake it out and let it dry slowly away from any heat source.
