Hooded Fur

Every hooded piece we build, across coats, half coats, jackets and capes. The signature here is a mink body with a contrasting hood: more than a third of this collection pairs mink or Blackglama with a Russian sable or bobcat hood, cut long so it frames the face. Alongside those are hooded capes in chinchilla, bobcat and rex rabbit, hooded shearling half coats in Spanish merino, and Italian cashmere coats with hoods trimmed in mink. Hand-built in our Kastoria atelier, in sizes 36 to 50.

By fur: Mink, Blackglama, Russian Sable, Bobcat, Chinchilla, Rex Rabbit, Shearling. By piece: Coats, Jackets, Capes.

FAQ

Why is the hood often a different fur from the coat?

Because the two do different work. Mink is dense and short-piled, which is what you want across the body of a coat: hard-wearing, close to the shape, no bulk. Russian sable and bobcat are long-haired, so at the hood they stand up around the face and move with you, which a short fur cannot do. More than a third of this collection is built that way.

Which furs do you make hooded pieces in?

Mink and Blackglama account for most of the collection, usually with a hood in Russian sable or bobcat. There are also hooded pieces in chinchilla, bobcat, rex rabbit, fox, swakara and Baumarten, hooded shearling half coats in Spanish merino, and Italian cashmere coats with hoods trimmed in mink.

Do you make hooded fur capes?

Yes, in Blackglama mink, Russian sable, chinchilla, bobcat, rex rabbit, and cashmere with sable trim. A hooded cape is the easiest hooded piece to size, because nothing has to fit the arm.

What sizes do you make?

Sizes 36 to 50, hand-finished in Kastoria, Greece. We also take custom orders and made-to-measure commissions if you want a particular fur and hood combination that is not shown here.
